OK so it`s been another crazy week...
Kids have tested and tried me like there is no tomorrow but what has worried me the most is I haven`t been able to turn the other cheek like I usually do...
Sleep or lack of is playing a huge part in the way I have been handling things....
Lately I have been so moody i`m actually scaring myself...
So I am making a point of seeing a doctor next week and we all know how much I dislike doctors.....
I really do think I am going through the change....
And for those "packed to the rafter" fans NO i`m not pregnant....
For a while now the sleep pattern has gone haywire, then there is the night sweats...
I`m so bad that I actually have to sleep with a fan on of a night....
Then there is the hot flushes that I get throughout the day...
Don`t even get me started on the angry outbursts, they are ferocious....
Tonight I think I shocked everyone...Hmmm come to think of it I shocked myself...
A certain daughter told me to shutup...
Big mistake on her part...
I grabbed my bag , stormed out of the house, jumped into the car and went down to the beach to calm myself down....
As I said it`s very unlike me...
Thankfully hubby has said he will go with me to the doctors as he knows I will probably chicken out....
So if it is the change omg how am I going to cope or is that, how is the family going to cope???....
Life might be about to get a whole lot more interesting....lol
Hi Mandy :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment you left earlier on my latest post *Hugs*
In regards to your latest post...
I wrote a post recently about that I thought I was starting to go through menopause (I think you read it and left a reply)
Anyway I have all of the above symtoms that you are describing about what you are going through ..
I had a full blood test over a week ago, and was convinced it would come up with evidence that I am now going through the change (I badly wanted it to, to justify my moods/body changes/hot flushes etc) Like you I have to have the fan on most of the time now too !
Well it came back with nothing conclusive ! My hormones are fine apparently ( what the !!!!!!!!!! Grrrrr!) I can't believe it showed nothing when I am experiencing all these things :(
My Mother still thinks I am starting to go through it regardless of the blood test results , as she started it in her early 40's as well.
Do you watch 'Packed to the Rafters' ?.. the last 2 episodes about the Mother?? hehe ;-)
If you are going through it, my heart goes out to you, especially with all the other stuff in your life you have to cope with on top of it all !
Luckily I only have my husband (and pets) to take all my mood swings out on ! I do feel sorry for him atm :( However men are lucky in way they will never have to experience all these things that we have too ! Grrrr !
Please keep us updated how you get on with at the Docs (I don't like them either !) :(
There are various natural hormonal products you can try if you are into alternative things, eg Yam cream, evening primrose oil tablets (which I am about to buy for myself)..
All the best Mandy (my apologies for my venting about it all in your post)
LOL at the image you added to this post. I can see a resemblance to myself in it ! ;-)
The image I put up with my post was funny too ! :)
Jules xoxox
mandy i have one word for you. diet and exercise. very important. if you want my opinion and why wouldn't you, it does indeed sound like you may be experiencing the change or at least be perimenopausal. (i know, spelling!!!) go to your dr, they can do a blood test to find out. when i first got these symptoms i thought it was a virus. my toyboy would mop my brow saying poor baby you have a nasty virus. little did i know. big shock to the system. i have another word for you, positive thinking. i don't know why we experience these changes AND teenagers at the same time. it's a very bad joke played on us by someone me thinks. it's ok, it's not terminal. hmmmm that last bit may not be true and you never know it just might be 'just a virus'. hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteps.... Oh and I have resorted for the first time in my life to going onto mild antidepressants/sleepers (Endep) to help with my really bad sleeping problems. I do think it has helped me cope much better in my every day life . It's something I've never believed in, but there comes a point in your life that sometimes you need to have some extra help :)
ReplyDeletei just read Jules' comment. even if the blood test comes back negative the perimenopausal thing can still be happening and not show up. it starts quite early in some women. i was 45, the same age as my mother when she started. all will be ok. btw, i missed the last two epis. of packed to the rafters. don't tell me she's pregnant? omg
ReplyDeleteHi yevisha :)
ReplyDeleteYeah that's what my Mother said to me as well, that I am perimenopausal, and it might take a while to show up in the blood tests..
I am 43 as of yesterday, but I had a ablation done many years ago, that the specialists said would make me go through it early anyway..
Yes she's pregnant !!!! ;-)
They were thinking of terminating it, but they she had a ultrasound, and then they went all warm and fuzzy, and so they are going keep it. It was the last episode for the season, so will have to wait until the next season's to see what will pan out LOl
Morning Jules and Fran..
ReplyDeleteWell from what you have both written I could be in for a rollercoaster ride then....
Hubby reckons i`m a bitch already so he might vacate to other premises before it`s full blown menopause...lol
I must do better with my diet ...I`m a caffeine addict and I have heard that this is one thing you need to cut down on...I can see it`s going to be trying on all avenues...
And yes Fran life is cruel when your body is going through major changes and you have to deal with hormonal teenagers....Someone has a wicked sense of humour....
Hi Mandy, good idea, flee the house, go somewhere beautiful and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon!
I am glad you are going to the Doc, don't wriggle out of it, go, your instinct to go is right.
Have a good day Mandy, really, I hope you have one day of calm serenity, you deserve it, though I know full well it is hard come by in your house,
I hope it for you anyway, xxx Starry
I once read a comment from a male chauvanist and he reckoned that menopausal women should be inducted into the army and sent to the front line and the wars would be cleaned up quick smart.....picture red in the face menopausal women with sub machine guns coming at you over the sand dunes...what b.....ard did this to me was it you...bam...perhaps not ....who else...com on fellas...life aint fair...bam blam rat a tat...now that would make you feel better. Only trouble would be they would be on a roll and who knows where WE would stop....
ReplyDeleteSeriously Mandy sounds awfully like the aforementioned condition...AND i refuse to discuss the whole thing...just experience it....
Hi Starry...serenity flew out the window this morning...Daniel is having so much trouble settling into this new school and by the looks of things he isn`t getting much support from staff there....He has alot of learning difficulties and there way of dealing with it is by ignoring him....GREAT!!!!!...Just been on the phone with the councellors there....I hope now that they will do something about it instead of giving me a poor excuse like the class sizes are big so he won`t get the attention he needs....
ReplyDeleteI thought that was the whole idea of sending kids to school so they can be taught...Silly me....lol
Oh Lizzie I haven`t laughed so hard in a long time...The worst part is I could actually seeing myself doing that and YES looking for more...hahaha
ReplyDeleteHi Mandy it's Ken
ReplyDeletegood luck copying.
2 out of 3 woman have what your having.
If they could cope so could you.
bye bye
Could I be saying 'My Mad Mandy' friend. Oh Mandy I am so sorry to hear this, although I suspect that it could even be slightly more complex. You have chosen the perfect pic. Says it all!
ReplyDeleteCould be a good idea to get your bloods done. I do have lots of information so, if it is OK with you, will send you an e-mail with my thoughts.
I was 57 before I finished my monthly cycle and had no signs nor symptoms of change. Became an oncology patient instead.
Good luck Mandy....others have been through it, others have sailed through it, but somewhere I missed it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positivity Kenny...I`m sure things will work themselves out...
ReplyDeleteChez you`re right in saying "mad mandy"...lol....Today though I must admit has been better...Still get moody and i`m trying my best not to be this way but somehow it`s not coming across all that well....
ReplyDeleteSome information would be gladly accepted...I know very little on the matter as I have no older female in my family to talk to about the matter....
I was hoping that I may miss this part of life myself but somehow the odds are going against me..Oh well got to take the good with the bad, don`t we...
Matt is making certain I do go for a blood test...Trouble is I have a real fear of needles so he`ll be coming with me to reassure me in my time of need....
Have a great weekend Chez...
Margaret obviously you were one of the lucky ones....Some people have all the luck...lol
ReplyDeletePoor Mandy. Good idea go to the doctor and get a check up. I doubt it will show up in the blood at such an early stage, mine didn't until I was 55. Don't worry about taking HRT.
ReplyDeleteWell I am going through it so I really know how you feel at first I was told my hormones where normal but my doctor told me that means little you have the symptoms you are going through it your hormones just have to catch up with the rest of you.....
ReplyDeleteThe worse thing I have is that when my symptoms are worse I put on weight and everyone will tell you that menopause does not cause weight gain but I am yet to be convinced. My mother was the same she would put on weight when her symptoms where bad.
Thankfully I don't have bad symptoms very often but I am a moody person and I cry a lot when I am depressed.
You will be fine and you will fined a way to cope it may mean the kids will want to avoid you at times but is that really all that bad as we both know how stressful they are......bloody kids but we love them.
Diane you`re right when saying about the HRT...That`s one thing i`ll be steering away from....If anything i`ll take all natural supplements....I`ve heard too many negative things about the others...
ReplyDeleteJo-anne the kids especially the older two are avoiding me....lol
ReplyDeleteMood swings are huge at the moment for me..It started out small but just lately they are getting worse whether it`s because I do have a lot going on in my life or the hormones are just giving me the shits...hahaha
Don`t even go there about the weight..All that weight I lost seems to be creeping back on me again and the worst part is I hardly eat anything....
I tell you i`m coming back a man next time around....lol
